(“we,” “us,” “our,” or “Footsteps2Brilliance®” as used in this Policy) has created this Privacy Policy to explain why we collect particular information and how we will protect your personal privacy while using our learning platform services (the “Service”). The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for our Service.
In some circumstances, the Service may be accessed through an account or login generated by or on behalf of an educational institution or another similar partner of ours. In those cases, the applicable educational institution may collect, use, share or transmit personal information about you or your child in the course of this relationship. Below we describe the information we ordinarily share with such partners, but please consult your educational institution or similar intermediary about their data handling practices, as we cannot control or restrict the collection or use of any such information by such educational institutions.
In order to fully understand your rights we encourage you to read this Privacy Policy as well as our Terms of Use, in addition to any disclosures provided by the educational institution through which you may have accessed the Service. Footsteps2Brilliance, Inc. reserves the right at any time and without notice to change this Privacy Policy simply by posting such changes on our Web site at www.footsteps2brilliance.org/privacy. Any such change will be effective immediately upon posting. You agree to consult the website periodically in order to apprise yourself of any such changes.
Footsteps2Brillance, Inc. is committed to respecting the privacy of those who use our Service to the best of our capability. To that end, access to the Service is granted only through the use of an individualized user name and password, which may be obtained directly from us or may be provided by an educational institution partner. Use of a personalized account helps protect our users from unauthorized intrusion, and allows us to track how individual children are responding to the questions, games and other challenges we provide them. In addition, as required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), no child under the age of 13 is permitted to access our Service unless the child’s parent or guardian provides the consent displayed upon initialization of our Services. In cases where an educational institution contracts our Service for the benefit of their students, schools provide consent within the educational context.
What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information
We gather information from users during their use of the Service, principally to enable the Service’s use and to provide insights as to how the service might be improved and the child might be helped academically. We record the reports that users provide us concerning such matters as the number of books they have read and their titles, time spent on games and books, time of day that games and books have been accessed, creative and expository writing, drawings, points earned, and performance against certain academic metrics. Users are able to use our Service to author books, create academic journals, and create drawings. Users can share the writings and/or drawings they created on the Service via a share-by-email feature. We retain any written feedback that we receive from users. We analyze such information on an aggregated basis so that we may improve the effectiveness of our service and report findings and trends that are discernible from such data. The aggregated findings and trends may be disclosed to the part(ies) sponsoring the provision of the Service, in newspaper and academic articles, at educational forums, in media broadcasts and webinars, and in our sales and marketing materials. Such marketing communications will not identify a particular individual or link performance metrics to such individuals.
Our Use of your Information
Footsteps2Brilliance, Inc. does not collect any more personally identifiable information than we believe is reasonably necessary to provide the Service to users and to serve the purposes identified above.
Footsteps2Brilliance, Inc. may use information collected through the Service for the purposes discussed in the bullets above. In addition, we will use information collected by the service to operate, update, and maintain our applications, to respond to customer service inquiries, and to improve the functionality of our services. We may also use such information to provide reports to our educational institution partners or to parents about their users’ or children’s performance and progress.
From time to time, we may administer challenges for users through the Service or provide incentives for our partners to increase user participation, in which case we will use information submitted through the Service to do so. No user is required to submit any additional personal information in order to participate in such challenges.
We may disclose any information, including personal information, we deem necessary to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, to enforce our rights or to protect the safety and security of our Website or other users.
How You Can Access and Update Your Information
Parents and guardians can review the personally identifiable information that Footsteps2Brilliance, Inc. has obtained regarding your child and/or performance metrics regarding your child’s use of the Services, withdraw your consent to Footsteps2Brilliance’s further use of such information, direct the deletion of such information from Footsteps2Brilliance’s records and receive further clarification of this policy by contacting privacy@footsteps2brilliance.com. Please note, however, that we do not have access to any information possessed or maintained by our educational institution partners and cannot assist you in deleting or reviewing such information. If you have concerns about your educational institutions practices, please contact that institution directly.
Technical Information
Our Services reference certain types of technical information, which may be associated with personal information we obtain through your use of the Service:
To identify your system we collect an IP address from all visitors to our Service, where applicable. On mobile devices, we may also record a unique device identifier instead of an IP Address. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Site, analyze trends, track users’ movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses and/or device identifiers are not linked to personally identifiable information.
To optimize your experience our Site may use cookies to enhance your experience while using our Service.
