Earth and Sky: Volcanos

This week's Family Friday, you will get to make a volcano. After reading about this natural occurrence in our Earth and Sky series, you will get to see your very own volcano erupt. Have fun STEM volcano craft!

What you need:

  • 1 piece of paper
  • Tape
  • Bottle of soda
  • Mentos

*You will want to do this outside, it may get messy.

Step 1

Open up your Footsteps2Brilliance App, and go to Level 2 (Yellow). In Earth and Sky, find the book Earth and Sky U-Z. Read the book and be sure to touch the illustrations to see the pictures come alive!

Step 2

Tape a piece of paper in a cone around the soda bottle. This will make it look like a volcano. You may want to decorate it, but it will likely get wet with lava!

Step 3

Drop a few mentos in to the soda bottle, and watch it erupt!
