It’s Raining It’s Pouring

April showers bring May flowers! How often will it shower this week? For this week's Family Friday you will test out your skills as a meteorologist (weather scientist)! After singing the nursery rhyme It’s Raining, It’s Pouring, you and your child can observe and record the weather with this nature-centered interactive activity. Have fun!

What you need:

  • Pre-made printable calendar template (here)
  • Scissors
  • Glue/Tape

Step 1

Click to read It's Raining, It's Pouring. Sing the nursery rhyme and touch all the pictures on the page to learn some new words and see the story come alive! You can also find this book by opening up your Footsteps2Brilliance App and going to Level 1 (Red).  In Karaoke Nursery Rhymes, you'll find the book It's Raining, It's Pouring.

Step 2

Print out the pre-made printable calendar template (here) and cut out the weather pieces.

STEP 3

Hang the calendar in a special place. For an extra challenge, make weather predictions like adult meteorologists (weather scientists) do. Then, every day, take a walk outside or look out the window and decide what type of weather it is.

Glue or tape the type of weather to the matching day on the calendar. At the end of the week, you will be able to give a full weather report! Did your weather predictions come true? You can do this activity week after week!
