Topper’s Toy Store

This week’s Family Friday is an activity that will get you movin' and grovin'.  After reading Topper’s Toy Store you and your child can make a set of dice with the different toys and play a movement game.

What you need:

  • Pre-made printable dice (here)
  • Scissors
  • Glue/tape

Step 1

Click to read Topper's Toy Store. Read the book and touch all the pictures on the page to listen to the toys and learn how they sound and move! You can also find this book by opening up your Footsteps2Brilliance App and going to Level 1 (Red).  In the Academic Language Program for Students (ALPS) series, you'll find the book Topper’s Toy Store.

Step 2

Print out the pre-made printable dice (here) and cut out the template.

Fold on the lines to form a die. Using a glue or tape, secure the tabs to form the die.

STEP 3

Choose a die to roll and act out the noise or movement from the toy in the story. Go back to the story after you have acted out these movements and reread the story again. Have fun!

Silly challenge: Roll TWO dice at one time! Can you march while you play the flute? See if you can sweep and dance at the same time!
